Kenzan Ogata
Kenzan Ogata, Ceramist in the middle of the Edo era
Kenzan Ogata is a younger brother of Korin Ogata. He learned a ceramics skill from Ninsei Nonomura. He established a kiln at Senya-cho, Narutaki, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. His brand name is "Kenzan".
He also learned skills of Holland and China. Some of his works were painted by Korin. We can find many masterpieces with colorful design. In the latter part of his life, he lived at Nijo-Chojiyamachi and produced many tableware. Kanzanyaki became very popular. It was very famous for its design. He did mass-proudction with molds.
